Sri T. Mohandas Pai
Sri T. Mohandas Pai is the eldest son of Dr. T.M.A. Pai, founder of Manipal Institutions and Smt. Sharada Pai. He is an alumnus of MGM College, Udupi having studied in the very first intermediate batch during 1949-51 when the college started in the premises of the Mahatma Gandhi School run by Udupi Muncipal Council. After Intermediate he attended a course in Law and then he became an entrepreneur in Manipal, with the same insights into the intricacies of finance and administration in abundance as his father.
Lover and Connoisseur of Art
He became a partner in many of the financial and economic ventures in Manipal like Manipal Press, Udayavani, Industrial Credit and Development Syndicate Ltd. He is the President of MGM College Trust, Regional Resource Centre, Yakshagana Kendra, Kanaka Adhayana Peetha, Gandhi Adhyana Kendra and RG Pai Centre. He is also deeply interested in Indian Heritage and has joined hands with U. Vijaynath Shenoy in launching projects of Hasthashilpa and Heritage Village. He is a great lover and connoisseur of art. He successfully led the ICDS Ltd. from t dark days of financial crisis.

He has always kept aloof from quarters of political power and pelf. He has largely been responsible for safekeeping of Dr. T.M.A. Pais belongings in Smrithi Bhavan, Manipal the museum devoted to the memory of Dr. T.M.A. Pai. An upright person in matters of public life he is highly respected for his straightforwardness, independent decision and not deviating from his decision. His vision of an educational model that blends the best of tradition and modernity has proved to be the most appropriate one for our culture and times. Under his leadership, no attempt has been spared in providing the best infrastructure facilities needed for an ideal degree college.| Top |
